NFL: 2008 Free Agency: Browns/Jets

The NFL free agency for the upcoming 2008 season has been very exciting. Their have been many moves and trades that occurred so far. A team that has made the most and biggest moves so far has been the Cleveland Browns. They have signed and acquired many new great talents. They revamped their defensive line by acquiring Shaun Rogers from the Detroit Lions and Corey Williams from the Green Bay Packers. They also signed former Patriots wide receiver Donte Stallworth who is a very underrated receiver. After all of these big moves, the Browns also resigned some key players from their 2007 season which were quarterback Derek Anderson and running back Jamal Lewis. With the 2008 free agency period almost over I would have to say that the Cleveland Browns are by far the winners so far. This team should continue to be on the rise in 2008 and could possibly make the playoffs.

Another team that went all out in the free agent market was the New York Jets. I wouldn't say that they had a great off season but I can say they got a lot of new talent. The free agents that they signed were Alan Faneca, Kris Jenkins, Calvin Pace, and Damien Woody. All of these players have talent but they over payed each one of them. These four players contracts total about 140 Million dollars with about 70 Million guaranteed. The New York Jets took a big risk in giving away all of that guaranteed money but it might pay off if their players preform to the high level they are capable of.
