St. Claire Soccer: Avengers - Final Season

My third and final season of playing soccer was a great one. I started the season off as a goalie but my mid season I was named captain and played mid field. This season was by far my best one because I almost averaged a goal a game. My play in goalie was also good and I got elected captain by my coaches which was an honor. Everything went right for me this season and we even made the playoffs. The reason I believe I did so well was because I stayed focused the entire season and wanted to do good. My team ended up losing in the second round by a last second goal and after this season was when I got introduced to the game of basketball. My brothers helped me practice playing basketball and even signed me up for a league with St. Claire's. I knew right away that I liked playing basketball more than soccer and I was mad that I got started with basketball so late since my parents pushed the game of soccer on me. My brothers ended up helping me preform well in basketball and from there was when I established myself as a basketball player. I ended up not playing soccer no more and I felt great about my decision because I figured I would end up retiring at the top of my game. I left on a good note since that last season was a great one. Even today I don't missing playing soccer but I still remember and cherish these soccer experiences.

The 2008 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions Results

The long 2008 NFL Draft was just completed today and there were some surprise picks. The first 10 picks were almost as projected but about the next 10 were big surprises. The Detroit Lions had the 15th pick overall in the first round but they ended up trading it to the Chiefs to move up in the third round. They ended up with the 17th overall pick and they selected Gosder Cherilus who is an offensive tackle. This was a big shocker to everyone and it seems to be another disappointing selection for the Lions. I was expecting them to take running back Rashard Mendenhall but for some reason they chose not to. Other notable picks by the Lions were Jordan Dizon in the second round and running back Kevin Smith in the third round. The Detroit Lions ended up receiving bad grades from the draft experts but I really liked that they went after all the positions they needed to fill this year. I also liked that they took Kevin Smith in the third round because he seems to have second round talent. Overall the Lions draft results seemed to be descent but no one knows for sure until all of these players play in the NFL.

St. Claire Soccer: Jaguars/Avengers

My third season in this soccer league was a strange one. I was excited to get the season going but it did not turn out the way I expected it too. My team won the first few games but then we started to go on a cold streak. We ended up losing the next five games and many fights broke out. A lot of the players on my team were fighting and their was one really big fight right in the middle of the season. I ended up getting traded to the Avengers because our team had to get split up. It was weird to play on a different team when I knew that my dad was coaching the team that I played previously for. I ended up leaving the team because I felt that it would be a fresh new start for me. My dad also believed that I would be better off trying out a new team. I played for the Avengers during the final few games of the season and we just made the playoffs. The funny thing was that we had to play the Jaguars in the first round. The Avengers coach actually made me play goalie which was a fun new experience. We ended up losing that playoff game but I only gave up one goal. I was mad that we lost but I was glad that my dad got to go on to the next round. He ended up coaching the Jaguars to another championship and that season proved what a great coach he was. Even after all of the arguments and drama that went on during the first half of the season, he ended up fixing everything and keeping his players focused enough to win back to back championships. This was unfortunately my last season in this soccer league and this was when I decided to start playing basketball. My dad continued to coach soccer for a few more seasons and then he became my personal coach for basketball.

2008 NBA Playoffs: Eastern Conference

Finally, the 2008 NBA regular season has come to an end. The Western conference was very exciting and has produced a lot of great teams. The reason I chose to break down the Eastern Conference is because everyone is praising and talking about the West. Everyone might think I am crazy but I actually think that a winner will come from the East. I think that the Orlando Magic will win the NBA Championship. This prediciton is a crazy one but you just never know. The playoffs are all about having a hot
streak of games and I think that the Magic are capable of doing this.

The first round of the playoffs from the Eastern Conference are matched up like this:

1. Boston Celtics vs. 8. Atlanta Hawks

2. Detroit Pistons vs. 7. Philadelphia 76ers

3. Orlando Magic vs. 6. Toronto Rapters

4. Cleveland Cavailers vs. 5. Washington Wizards

I believe that the Celtics will win the first series in 5 games. The Pistons will win their series in 5 games. The Magic will win their series in 6 games. The Cavs win will their series in 6 games.

This is the first round of the 2008 NBA playoffs for the Eastern Conference. I can't wait for the NBA playoffs to finally start so I can see how I did predicting the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

St Claire Soccer: Jaguars

My second season as a Jaguar was a great one. My dad was the coach of the team again and we had the same players as we did the year before. We were by far the best team in the league and we won the Championship. I got to play the forward position and I ended up scoring a lot of goals during the regular season. This was just a great season for everyone on our team and this was the most fun I ever had playing for any team. My dad did a great job coaching us through the season and everyone on our team respected and liked him. The only thing that happened at the end of the season that was bad was that our star player was going to go to a different team. He wanted to leave because he said that he wanted more exposure and wanted to accomplish bigger and better things. To this day I never got what he meant since we won the championship but our team moved on. Overall this season was the best ever and I was so excited to get ready to start next season playing soccer in this St. Claire Soccer League.

Flashback: St. Claire Soccer

Before I even started my basketball career at St. Claire's, I played soccer. My dad was the coach of my team for the first year. My team was called the St. Claire Jaguars and I was excited that my dad was my coach because I knew I would get a lot of playing time. He was also a great coach and he was respected by everyone in the league because he knew a lot about the game of soccer and he was fair to everyone. I was only 10 years old when I started playing in this league and we made it to the championship game our first season. We ended up losing the game by a last second goal and this was when I started to become an extremely competitive athlete. After that season I wanted to get back on the field and try to win it all again because I felt like I let me dad and the team down by not winning it all. I played midfield my first season and I didn't really like it because all of the action was playing the forward position. After the season ended I was looking forward to becoming a more aggressive and better soccer player so I went to a soccer camp during the off season to prepare for the next year.

New York Mets: Opening Series

The New York Mets 2008 season finally went underway a few days ago. The Mets just completed their first three game series against the Florida Marlins in Florida. The Mets won the first and final game of the series which was just played today. It was a great series and it was a good way to start the season for the Mets. The Mets one the first game 7 to 2 but they lost the second game of the series in extra innings 5 to 4. They finished well today after they crushed the Marlins 13 to 0 and they played their best baseball of the short season so far.

I watched all three games and each one was very exciting. The Mets had Johan Santana and Pedro Martinez pitch the first two games of the season and Johan did not disappoint the fans. He preformed extremely well on opening day but the only bad news was that Pedro got hurt after only pitching 3 innings. The doctors say that Pedro will miss about 4 to 6 months and this is not the way the Mets want to start off the year without their second starter. It is terrible that he had to get hurt to start the new season but I believe the Mets will be fine for the time that he is hurt. I am looking forward to watching the rest of the long baseball season and I am happy that the 2008 MLB season is finally here.
