New York Mets: Opening Series

The New York Mets 2008 season finally went underway a few days ago. The Mets just completed their first three game series against the Florida Marlins in Florida. The Mets won the first and final game of the series which was just played today. It was a great series and it was a good way to start the season for the Mets. The Mets one the first game 7 to 2 but they lost the second game of the series in extra innings 5 to 4. They finished well today after they crushed the Marlins 13 to 0 and they played their best baseball of the short season so far.

I watched all three games and each one was very exciting. The Mets had Johan Santana and Pedro Martinez pitch the first two games of the season and Johan did not disappoint the fans. He preformed extremely well on opening day but the only bad news was that Pedro got hurt after only pitching 3 innings. The doctors say that Pedro will miss about 4 to 6 months and this is not the way the Mets want to start off the year without their second starter. It is terrible that he had to get hurt to start the new season but I believe the Mets will be fine for the time that he is hurt. I am looking forward to watching the rest of the long baseball season and I am happy that the 2008 MLB season is finally here.
