New York Mets - Johan Santana

The New York Mets only have one more day to try and work out a contract extension with Johan Santana. The Mets aquired this pitcher from the Twins by trading away four prospects which included Carlos Gomez and Philip Humber. Santana is considered one of the best picthers in baseball and many Met fans are excited about getting him to come pitch in New York. Many fans are waiting on the Mets to complete the offer and as of now they are about 20 Million dollars away from getting him under contract. Johan and his agent are seeking about 150 million for 6 or 7 years and the Mets are offering about 120 million for about 5 or 6 years. I really hope the two sides can agree on a fair price and I am looking forward too see Santana picth for the New York Mets. Johan's career stats are very good and I believe he is worth the 26 Million he wants per season. He has 93 career wins and only a 3.22 career era. He is only 29 years old so I believe the Mets should give him a long contract. I really hope the Mets don't pass up this big opportunity and if they could lock him up by tomorrow's 5 p.m deadline, then they can be a serious contender and even win the World Series this year.
